Premier League: a minimum 1-year ban for fans who demonstrate anti-social or criminal behaviour

Premier League clubs have "unanimously agreed to introduce minimum-length bans for supporters who take part in anti-social and criminal behaviours at League stadiums," announced the English league following a meeting of its shareholders on 21/09/2022.

"Fans caught carrying or activating pyrotechnics or smoke bombs, or entering the pitch without permission, will receive an automatic club ban with a minimum term of one year. These bans could also be extended to accompanying parents or guardians of children who take part in such activities," explained the Premier League, regarding the bans which will apply to both home and away matches.

The policy, which is "effective immediately" comes after the Premier League, The FA and the EFL introduced "new measures and stronger sanctions" with the backing of the Football Supporters' Association (FSA) ahead of the 2022-23 season in order to address problems with the behaviour of fans at stadiums (see below).
