NFL: 13 million viewers for the first game broadcast exclusively by Amazon in the USA

The Kansas City Chiefs - Los Angeles Chargers game (27-24), the second game of the 2022 NFL season, drew an average of 13 million viewers in the United States, with a peak audience of 14.6 million, on the VoD platform Prime Video (Amazon) on Thursday, 15/09/2022, a 47% increase over the second "Thursday Night Football" (aired on the NFL Network in the USA) during the 2021 season, according to American audience measurement institute Nielsen.

It was also the most-watched prime time show in the platform's history, according to Prime Video's vice president and global head of sports Jay Marine, and the most-watched prime time programme in the United States on 15/09/2022, according to US media. The average age of the audience was estimated to be 46, seven years younger than the linear TV audience for the first two weeks of the 2022 season, according to Nielsen. The audience was also eight years younger than the average Thursday Night Football audience during the 2021 season.
