Bundesliga: Commerzbank expected to retain the naming rights of the stadium in Frankfurt until 2020

The German bank Commerzbank is expected to extends its contract for naming rights to the stadium in Frankfurt (capacity 50,300) until 2020, according to several German media outlets on 13/10/2014.

The naming contract, which currently expires in July 2015, would be extended for five seasons. The annual amount will increase from €3m to €3.5m. Eintracht Frankfurt (Bundesliga), the club resident of the enclosure, will receive €2.5m of that contract per season. The company operating the stadium, Stadion Frankfurt Management GmbH, will receive €1m per year. Commerzbank has held the naming rights to the stadium since the 2005-06 season.

  • The stadium was renovated between 2002 and 2005, and hosted the 2006 World Cup.
    • Cost of renovation: €190m
    • The stadium has 83 private boxes from 6-22 seats, for a total box capacity of 1,000.
    • Commerzbank also receives 2,200 seats as part of the agreement.
  • Eintracht Frankfurt expects a turnover of €81 million in 2014-15.
