esports/Worlds 2022: six different equipment manufacturers supply 13 of the 24 participating teams

13 of the 24 teams competing in the 2022 League of Legends World Championships (Worlds 2022), hosted by Riot Games from 29/09 to 05/11/2022, have an equipment supplier, as of 30/09/2022.

Of the 12 teams that have already qualified for the main draw (out of 16 in total), nine have an equipment supplier. The remaining 12 teams are participating in a play-in phase (qualification) from 29/09 to 04/10/2022 to secure one of the four remaining spots to join the main draw.

Nike is the most represented equipment manufacturer with five teams under contract. As part of its partnership with the Chinese LoL League (LPL), the American equipment manufacturer supplies the kits to all teams in the competition for €126m over five years (2018-2022), including the four clubs that have qualified for the Worlds in 2022 (JDG, Top Esports, EDward Gaming and RNG).

adidas (DMW Kia and G2), Puma (Cloud9 and Gen.G), Champion (Evil Geniuses, DetonatioN FocusMe), Kappa (MAD Lions) and Nations (Rogue) are the other five equipment manufacturers represented. Nations is the only endemic esports equipment manufacturer…
