Spain: RTVE acquires rights to 15 Copa del Rey matches per season over the 2022-2025 cycle

The public group RTVE has acquired the rights to broadcast 15 Copa del Rey matches per season (Lot 1B) in Spain over the 2022-2025 cycle, announced the Real Federacion Espanola de Futbol on 03/10/2022.

RTVE will broadcast two games in each round, as well as the semi-final first and second legs and the final. The RFEF was asking for a minimum of €14.1m per season for this lot, a figure that has been reached according to Spanish media. Lot 1C, which includes the broadcasting of 107 matches of the competition, is expected to be awarded shortly for an estimated minimum of €8m per season, according to the Spanish press.

The free-to-air television group Mediaset España held the domestic broadcasting rights to the competition for the 2019-2022 cycle, and had sublicensed the rights to "at least 65 matches per season, of which at least 50 are exclusive and 15 are co-broadcast with Mediaset" to the OTT platform DAZN. The annual value of domestic rights over this cycle was slightly less than €14m according to Spanish media.
