Poland: Canal+ extends TV rights to the Ekstraklasa (first division) for the 2023-2027 cycle (€269m)

The pay and and free-TV group Canal+ has extended its broadcasting rights for the PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa (Polish first division) in Poland for the 2023-2027 cycle, announced Ekstraklasa S.A. on 03/10/2022. These rights were acquired for zł1.3bn (€269m), which is 5.2 times more than the amount for the 2021-2023 cycle (zł250m/€54m).

"Analysing the market's expectations in terms of exclusivity, Ekstraklasa this time proposed only one offer, covering the broadcast of all matches. It involves a compulsory sublicense of one game each matchday and the possibility to broadcast the league programme for free. This will allow additional coverage of matches and the promotion of clubs. It will be up to Canal+ to identify partners," said the League.

Canal+ holds the full broadcasting rights to the Polish top flight in Poland over the 2021-2023 cycle. The Polish public TV group TVP holds the rights to broadcast one Ekstraklasa game per matchday in Poland over the same period.
