2029 Asian Winter Games: Saudi Arabia to host the event in Neom, a future city in the desert

Saudi Arabia has been designated as the host country for the 2029 Asian Winter Games, announced the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), organiser of the Games, at the end of its 41^st General Assembly in Phnom Penh (Cambodia) on 04/10/2022. The competition will be held in the future city of Neom located in the desert.

"The deserts & mountains of Saudi Arabia will soon be a playground for Winter sports!" said the OCA. Riyadh, the Saudi capital, will also host the 2034 Asian Summer Games, while the 2030 edition of the competition will be held in Doha, Qatar.

The futuristic megacity project Neom, located on the shores of the Red Sea, was officially presented on 27/09/2022. The city, nicknamed "The Line", should resemble a line in the form of a mirrored building 170km long (500 metres high, 200 metres wide), erected in the Saudi desert.
