Lega Serie A: two offers made by investment funds for Serie A TIM media rights from 2024-25

The Lega Serie A has received two offers from investment funds to invest in the media rights to the Serie A TIM for the period beginning with the 2024-25 season, according to Italian business daily Il Sole 24 Ore on 09/10/2022.

The first offer is said to be from the investment fund Searchlight Capital, which would guarantee the Lega Serie A a minimum of €940m per season (i.e. €2.82bn over 2024-2027) in order to negotiate, on behalf of the Italian league, the marketing of a dedicated channel/platform with the various operators (telecoms, pay-TV, OTT).

The second is claimed to have been formulated by a consortium composed of the three private equity firms Apax Partners (French), Three Hills Capital Partners and Carlyle Group (American), for the acquisition of part of a company dedicated to the marketing of rights. The project is named "Love for Football".

If no agreement is reached, the League could proceed with a classic call for tenders for the 2024-2027 cycle.
