Bologna FC (Serie B) has been acquired by an American consortium, led by the American lawyer Joseph Tacopina, who became president of the club on 15/10/2014.

The sale amount, when all future payments are considered, is estimated to be around €40m by the Italian media. The agreement also includes a "promise" of investment to renovate the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara (capacity 38,279). Joseph Tacopina had resigned as vice-president and member of board of AS Roma (Serie A) on 17/09/2014; he held this post since 27/10/2011.

  • The American group led by Joseph Tacopina will include the Canadian businessman Joey Saputo, owner of the Montreal Impact (MLS).
    • Tacopina stated other partners in the group did not wish to be named publically at this time.
  • Luca Bergamini and Piergiorgio Bottai were appointed to the board of the club, alongside Joseph Tacopina.
  • Massimo Zanetti, owner of the coffee brand Segafredo, had purchased the entire share capital of Bologna FC on 23/12/2010, before selling the majority of his shares in March 2011 to Albano Guaraldi, president of the club since 2011.
