AFC Ajax: a turnover of €189.2m (+51.1%) and net loss of €24.3m in 2021-22

AFC Ajax (Eredivisie) posted a turnover (excluding capital gains on player transfers) of €189.2m for the 2021-22 financial year (01/07/2021 to 30/06/2022), up 51.1% compared to 2020-21 (€125.2m), announced the Amsterdam (NED) club on 27/09/2022.

"Ground-related revenues (mainly matchday revenues and competition bonuses) increased from €48m to almost €99m (+106%), particularly due to the run in the UEFA Champions League. Merchandising and partnership revenues also increased by €25.4m to €74.8m, partly due to the successful sales of the European kit," explained Ajax.

"The coronavirus crisis had a significant impact on the financial results for the 2021-22 season. The pandemic also had a negative effect on the transfer market. In addition, Ajax, especially in the first half of the season, played matches with few or no spectators, which resulted in a €7.6m shortfall in matchday revenues," added the Dutch club.
