Qatar 2022: Telefonica acquires pay-TV rights in Spain from Mediapro

Telefonica, a Spanish telecommunications company, has acquired the rights to broadcast the entire 2022 World Cup in Spain for its pay-TV package Movistar, announced Movistar on 17/10/2022. These rights were acquired via a sublicensing agreement with the Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro.

"All matches of the competition (including the Spanish national team matches) will be available via a new 24-hour channel dedicated exclusively to the World Cup, available on Movistar Plus+. Movistar customers who have subscribed to the 'LaLiga' package or the 'Todo el fútbol' package in their offer (miMovistar or Fusión) will be able to watch the entire 2022 World Cup at no extra cost," explained Movistar.
