Six Nations Rugby: partnership with Sage (software/tech) to implement "smart ball technology"

Sage, a UK-based software and technology company, has become an official partner of Six Nations Rugby and its competitions, announced the body based in Dublin (IRL), on 18/10/2022. The agreement includes the men's (Guinness Six Nations) and women's (TikTok Women's Six Nations) Six Nations tournaments, as well as the Autumn Nations Series.

"Sage will employ innovative 'smart ball' technology, which will be used for the first time across all three tournaments. The partnership will bring rugby fans even greater insights into the game; enhancing their viewing experience through real time data and analytics captured through smart ball technology and advanced predictive analytics. All six unions and federations will have access to the smart ball data, offering teams, players and coaches' insight to support performance and aid on field decision making," explained the organisation, which CVC Capital Partners acquired an equity stake in, with plans to invest €426m over five years (2021-2025), on 11/03/2021.
