UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) published the sixth edition of its club licensing benchmarking report of European clubs on 17/04/2014. In addition to financial performance for the 2012 financial year, the document analyses, for the first time since its creation, the financial landscape of 696 clubs of the first division of the 53 member associations of UEFA (Gibraltar, the 54th member, has just joined UEFA in spring 2014).

The clubs of the European first divisions spent €10.9bn in transfers to build their 2011-12 club rosters (or 2012 for the championships which take place within the calendar year), the report reveals. 62% of this amount (€6.7bn) are from three championships: the Barclays Premier League (nearly €2.9bn, 26.3% of the total), the Serie A TIM (€2.2bn, 20.3% ) and Liga BBVA (€1.7bn, 15.4%). Next are the Bundesliga (€878m, 8%), the Russian Premier League (€782m, 7.2%) and Ligue 1 (€704m, 6.5%).

This dossier from News Tank Football reviews the main findings of the sixth edition of UEFA club licensing benchmarking report of European clubs.
