"FIFA has awarded the free-to-air Women’s World Cup 2023 media rights in 28 European territories (none of which are among the European Top 5 countries) to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU)," announced the International Federation on 24/10/2022. The competition will be held in Australia (six stadiums, 35 matches, including the final in Sydney) and New Zealand (four stadiums, 29 matches, including the opening game in Auckland) from 20/07 to 20/08/2023, with 32 teams and 64 matches for the first time.

"This agreement continues the long-lasting partnership between FIFA and EBU and will see EBU member broadcasters give more coverage to women’s football than ever before. The rights include broadcast across TV, digital and radio," added FIFA.

"EBU Members reported record audience figures and coverage of the Women’s World Cup 2019 in France, signalling a landmark moment for women’s sport. The EBU is happy to extend that partnership, showing itself once again to be a reliable partner for one of sport’s most exciting and fastest-growing events."
