Facebook: Manchester United pass 60 million fans, want to create a contact tool for them

"It’s all very well having 60m fans on Facebook but we really need to know more about them so we can interact with them and share their contact details with our partners," said Matt Scammell, associate global sponsorship sales director of Manchester United (Barclays Premier League), at the Dreamforce e-business convention in San Francisco (USA) on 16/10/2014.

Manchester United became the first English club to exceed 60 million fans on Facebook on 19/10/2014. For this occasion, the club organised a competition on Facebook to allow fans to win autographed shirts of the players. "It’s all about working with our partners to activate not just globally in terms of visibility but making it locally relevant to every market and all the fans we have around the world," said Matt Scammell.
