Formula 1: Audi to make Sauber its factory team and become its engine manufacturer from 2026

Audi will become a strategic partner of Sauber Motorsport, the Swiss company that owns the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Orlen, from 2026, announced both parties on 26/10/2022. Audi plans to acquire a stake in the Sauber Group. The timeframe for purchase and the number of shares involved have not been disclosed as of 26/10/2022.

The team will continue to display its co-title sponsors Alfa Romeo and Orlen in 2023, will then return to the "Sauber" identity for 2024 and 2025, and will eventually display the Audi name and colours from the 2026 season.

The German company will also supply the team's engines when the new power unit regulations come into force in 2026, having announced its entry into F1 as an engine manufacturer on 26/08/2022. Italian manufacturer Ferrari will continue to supply the engines for the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Orlen over the 2023-2025 cycle.
