Italy: Andrea Abodi, Minister of Sports, relies on AS Roma's future stadium to host Euro 2032

"AS Roma's stadium? It must be built and it will be built, because I am convinced that Euro (2032) will be awarded to Italy if we are rigorous, if we present a solid application and not just a fantasy book. We have a few months to put together a project on which we will be evaluated," said Andrea Abodi, the new Italian Minister of Sports and Youth, on 25/10/2022.

The future 55,000-capacity stadium of AS Roma is to be built in Pietralata, a district in the north-east of Rome (ITA). Work is due to start in 2024 and be completed in 2027, marking the club's centenary. This new stadium is expected to have a total economic impact of €4bn over 10 years.

"In terms of stadiums, we lack a major event (to boost the construction of new infrastructure or the renovation of existing facilities). We are working towards the hosting of Euro 2032 and we are well placed, but we must arrive ready," said Gabriele Gravina, president of the FIGC, on 22/08/2022.

After considering a bid to host Euro 2028, Italy has chosen to aim for Euro 2032 instead. Turkey is also expected to make a bid.
