La Liga: Josep Maria Bartomeu will stand for another term as president of FC Barcelona in 2016

"I am determined to complete my current term until 06/30/2016, and stand for a new term of office (2016-2022)," said Josep Maria Bartomeu, president of FC Barcelona (Liga BBVA), during the general meeting of the club, on 18/10/2014.

Josep Maria Bartomeu, 51 years old, succeeded Sandro Rosell on 23/01/2014. The latter had resigned from his post on 23/01/2014, following the decision of the Spanish court to investigate, against him, a claim for misappropriation of assets in connection with the transfer of the Brazilian player Neymar.

• Agusti Benedito, a Spanish businessman in the automotive sector, will also stand for the presidency of FC Barcelona in 2016.
  
  • Agusti Benedito had already stood for the post in 2010, and obtained 14.09% of the votes from the club's socios.
  • Sandro Rosell was elected with 61.35% of votes in 2010.
