RB Leipzig: Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO and chairman of the board, to leave the club and join Red Bull

"Oliver Mintzlaff (GER) is stepping down as the CEO and chairman of the board of RB Leipzig (Bundesliga), effective as of 15/11/2022," announced the German club on 04/11/2022.

CEO of RB Leipzig since 2016, Oliver Mintzlaff had extended his contract a first time in December 2019 until 2024, then a second time in August 2021 until 2026. He had also been president of the club since July 2020, while also being the association's chief executive (since 2014).

"The management of the club will be taken on by Florian Hopp and Johann Plenge until further notice. Oliver Mintzlaff will still carry a responsibility and association with RB Leipzig and will be available as a member of the club's advisory board in the future," explained the club.

The decision follows the appointment of Oliver Mintzlaff as the new CEO of corporate projects and new investments for the Austrian group Red Bull, the club's owner, a few days after the death of Dietrich Mateschitz (AUT), co-founder and chairman of the energy drink company, on 22/10/2022.
