Liverpool FC: next phase in Anfield Road Stand expansion planned during 2022 World Cup

The next phase of the Anfield Road Stand expansion project at Anfield (53,394 capacity) will take place during the 2022 World Cup (20/11 to 18/12/2022), announced Liverpool FC (Premier League) on 31/10/2022.

"The next scheduled work will include removal of the old truss and demolition of the existing roof, revealing the new roof high above the existing stand. The roof tips are already in place, following the installation of the new, 300-tonne truss back in July (2022). During this ongoing work, there is a possibility that a very small section of home and away fans located at either end of the stand could be exposed to any inclement weather for a brief period of time. Fans in those areas will be provided with some wet weather ponchos by the club," explained Liverpool FC.

The expansion of Anfield, which began at the end of September 2021, will increase the total capacity of the stadium to more than 61,000, with an additional 7,000 seats in the stand expected to be ready for the start of the 2023-24 season.
