La Liga: Lucas Alcaraz succeeds José Luis Mendilibar as manager of Levante UD

The Spaniard Lucas Alcaraz was named coach of Levante UD (Liga BBVA) until 30/06/2015, plus an additional optional season, the club announced on 21/10/2014. He replaces the Spaniard Jose Luis Mendilibar, 53 years old, sacked for poor results on the same day.

Lucas Alcaraz, 48 years, was previously the manager of Granada CF (Liga BBVA) from 30/01/2013 to 30/06/2014.

  • José Luis Mendilibar had been the manager of Levante UD since 29/05/2014.
  • Levante UD is currently in 19th place (5 points), and in the relegation places, in La Liga after 8 Matchdays.
  • The club is level on points with Real Sociedad (16th), Athletic Bilbao (17th) and Elche CF (18th) for the first non-relegation place (16th).
