ExclusiveEuro 2016: agreement between UEFA and the venue cities to be formalised in Bordeaux on 23/10/2014

An agreement was concluded between UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) and the club of the Euro 2016 host cities for the creation of a fund from the profits of Euro 2016 to finance local facilities in the 10 cities of the host sites, News Tank learned on 21/10/2014.

This agreement will be made public at the end of the 6th meeting of the steering committee of Euro 2016 in Bordeaux on 23/10/2014, with the participation of Manuel Valls, the French Prime Minister. "We will fight, all cities united, to get some of benefits from Euro 2016," stated Alain Juppé, mayor of Bordeaux, to News Tank on 26/06/2013. Alain Juppé was elected president of the club of the Euro 2016 host cities on 27/05/2014.

A press briefing is scheduled at the town hall of Bordeaux, on 23/10/2014, at 12:15 CET, after the meeting of the steering committee of Euro 2016, including:

  • Michel Platini, president of UEFA
  • Manuel Valls, French prime minister
  • Alain Juppé, mayor of Bordeaux and president of the club of the Euro 2016 host cities
  • Patrick Kanner, French minister for urban affairs, youth and sports
