Qatar 2022: 61% of Europeans intend to follow the World Cup (CSA/TCL survey)

61% of Europeans intend to follow the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, according to a study by Hong Kong-based electronics and TV manufacturer TCL, conducted in France, the UK, Germany, Poland and Spain, in partnership with Consumer Science & Analytics (CSA), a marketing and opinion research institute, and published on 17/11/2022.

The XXII World Cup kicks off on Sunday 20/11/2022 at 17:00 CET with the opening match Qatar - Ecuador (Group A) at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al-Khor (QAT). The 2022 World Cup, the first to be held in the Middle East and in November/December, has been controversial due to environmental concerns and respect for human and labour rights in the Persian Gulf emirate.

50% of respondents plan to watch the World Cup to support their national team, while 35% say they will watch the tournament because they are passionate about football.

Even if their national team is eliminated, 83% of Europeans say they will continue to watch the competition.
