United Kingdom: a decline in stadium accessibility for people with disabilities in 2022

People with disabilities are facing increasing difficulties when attending sports matches in the UK, according to the results of the Level Playing Field's annual survey published on 15/11/2022.

Key findings from the consultation include:

⚽️ The number of fans for whom "attitudes of others is a barrier when attending live sport" has almost doubled from 15% in 2021 to 28.5% in 2022;
⚽️ 24% of disabled fans feel that difficulty in buying tickets is a barrier to attending matches. A figure also on the rise, having been 17% in 2021;
⚽️ The number of fans with disabilities who say they cannot attend certain sports venues due to a lack of accessibility has increased from 30.5% in 2021 to 36.5% in 2022;
⚽️ 18% report that not being able to get to the stadium due to inadequate transport is also a barrier to experiencing their passion, compared to 15.5% in 2021.
