Germany: regulations for the "Virtual Bundesliga" to be included in the DFL's statutes

"The Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga clubs passed a resolution to incorporate the regulations for the club competition of the Virtual Bundesliga in the league statutes of DFL," announced the German Professional Football League following its members assembly on 17/11/2022.

"The VBL regulations are based primarily on the pre-existing VBL Club Championship regulations, specifically, the terms and conditions of participation and the tournament rules; these have now been transferred to a joint document. The regulations govern the legal foundations and preconditions in particular for the participating clubs and their teams/players and other club officials. The VBL regulations encompass a range of aspects, such as the protection of the integrity of the competition, the organisation and broadcast of matches as well as sponsoring and marketing," explained the DFL.

The regulations form the legal basis for the 2022-23 Virtual Bundesliga, which is played on the video game FIFA 23 (EA Sports) and which began on 15/11/2022.
