Formula 1: an average of 1.21 million viewers in the United States (ABC/ESPN) in 2022 (+28%)

ESPN (The Walt Disney Company) posted an average audience of 1.21 million viewers for the Formula One Grand Prix races broadcast on its pay-TV channels ESPN and ESPN 2 and its free-to-air channel ABC during the 2022 season in the United States, an increase of 28% over the 2021 season (949,000 average viewers), announced the pay-TV package on 22/11/2022.

The season's audience record is held by the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix (Florida, USA), the fifth of the 2022 season, won by Dutchman Max Verstappen (Oracle Red Bull Racing), which drew an average of 2.583 million viewers on ABC on Sunday 08/05/2022 (race start at 14:30 EST, 21:30 CET). It was the most watched Formula 1 race in US history.

In total, 17 races (out of 22) drew an average of over one million viewers on ESPN during the 2022 season. "The 2022 season also became the first in U.S. television history to average 1 million or more viewers per race," said ESPN.
