Paris 2024: budget revised upwards by 10% (€400m), pending validation by the board on 12/12/2022

"In a context of high inflation, Paris 2024's budget stays under control, with a limited increase of about 10%, out of which 5% is due to inflation," said Tony Estanguet, president of Paris 2024, following an executive board meeting of the Organising Committee for the next Olympic and Paralympic Games on 22/11/2022.

This 10% represents €400m (in a budget that should reach €4.4bn), half of which is therefore linked to inflation. The remaining €200m should be allocated in particular to cybersecurity, "quite underestimated and on which we have now put the means. We also noticed that some costs had been badly anticipated, such as the reclassification leave for employees at the end of the Games," said Tony Estanguet.

Another cause of additional costs are the two opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games (on the Seine on 26/07/2024) and the Paralympic Games (Place de la Concorde on 28/08/2024).

The objective is to propose a balanced budget, thanks to additional revenue, at the Paris 2024 board of directors meeting scheduled for Monday 12/12/2022.
