Qatar 2022/Germany-Costa Rica: another first for Stéphanie Frappart (FRA) on 01/12/2022

France's Stéphanie Frappart, born on 14/12/1983, will be the first female central referee in history to officiate at the men's World Cup finals, during the match between Germany and Costa Rica (Matchday 3 in Group E, at the Al Bayt Stadium in Al-Khor, kick-off at 20:00 CET) on Thursday 01/12/2022, announced FIFA in Doha (QAT) on 29/11/2022.

The trio of referees will be 100% female, with Stephanie Frappart accompanied by Brazilian assistant referee Neuza Back and Mexican assistant referee Karen Diaz. The Frenchwoman is one of three women selected among the 36 on-field referees for this 2022 World Cup, along with Salima Mukansanga from Rwanda and Yoshimi Yamashita from Japan.
