Qatar 2022: 2.45 million spectators for the 1st round & an average stadium fill rate of 96%

More than 2.45 million spectators attended the 48 matches in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with an average stadium fill rate of 96%, according to FIFA on 03/12/2022.

This attendance "equals an average of 96% occupancy and is higher than the corresponding 2.17 million figure for the 2018 edition. The highest attendance in the history of the FIFA World Cup since the 1994 final (in the USA, 94,194 spectators at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, for Brazil's victory on penalties versus Italy) was seen at Lusail Stadium, where 88,966 fans witnessed the Argentina - Mexico match (2-0, on 26/11/2022)," said the international Federation.

Other highlights from the 1st round include:
