Formula 1/Covid-19: no Chinese Grand Prix in 2023, race canceled for the 4^th consecutive year

"Formula 1 can confirm, following dialogue with the promoter and relevant authorities, that the 2023 Chinese Grand Prix will not take place due to the ongoing difficulties presented by the Covid-19 situation," announced Formula One Group on 02/12/2022. China has not hosted a Grand Prix since the 2019 season.

The 2023 Chinese Grand Prix, initially the 4^th race on the season's calendar, was scheduled to be held at the Shanghai International Circuit (CHN) on 16/04/2023. "Formula 1 is assessing alternative options to replace the slot on the 2023 calendar and will provide an update on this in due course," added the body.

The 2023 Formula 1 calendar includes a record 24 races, starting with the Bahrain Grand Prix on 05/03/2023. The season will end with the Abu Dhabi GP on 26/11/2023. It will also be marked by the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, the third to be held in the United States (after the Americas and Miami circuits) on 18/11/2023. For the first time since 2018, the French GP is absent from the calendar.
