"The FIFA disciplinary committee's rejection of the FFF's complaint sets a dangerous precedent because it shows that the rules on the use of VAR can be circumvented without anything happening. However, in my opinion, the protection of FIFA's interests and of football in general would have been better served by retroactive confirmation of the validity of the goal. Football stakeholders would have had confirmation that referees were obliged to follow the regulatory process. This is especially true since the absence of real sporting consequences allowed FIFA to assert, without risk, the authority of its own rules," said Charles Amson, a lawyer at the Paris Bar and a specialist in Sports Law, to News Tank Football on 05/12/2022.

"The French Football Federation sent a complaint to FIFA on Thursday to contest the goal denied to Antoine Griezmann against Tunisia the day before (0-1)," announced the FFF on 01/12/2022, the day after the French team's third and final match in Group D of the 2022 World Cup, in which it retained first place despite the defeat.
