Super League: "Its creation would lead to the loss of tens of thousands of jobs" (LaLiga)

"The creation of a league designed to enrich the biggest clubs and concentrate power among a small number of teams that already dominate European football would also lead to the loss of tens of thousands of jobs and drastically reduce tax revenues for the public purse across the continent," said LaLiga on the occasion of the presentation of a KPMG study on the consequences of such a project for Spanish professional football, at the headquarters of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE) in Madrid (ESP), on 02/12/2022.

The Spanish League highlighted several figures to illustrate the danger that the creation of a Super League could represent:
• an overall loss of revenue that could reach 55% for LaLiga (which has a turnover of €1.94bn in 2021-22);
• a loss in value of clubs that would not be part of the project of up to -64% ("similar to those of other leagues in their proportion");
• a €400m increase in the revenues of Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona (whose presidents are in favour of the project) to the detriment of other Spanish professional clubs.
