"Football does not want favours. But we will put pressure on the government to put football in the place it deserves. The football elite needs to grow, and not wither away because of more tax burden. We are aware of the (economic) situation of the country, because we have a good knowledge of the state of our revenues," said Luís Duque, the new president of the LPFP (Portuguese Professional Football League) during his inauguration speech on 27/10/2014.

"I am in favour of the centralised marketing of audiovisual rights. This model has proven to give good results, and only Portugal and Spain resist. But nobody will advance with empty pockets. To come here and talk only about increasing revenues would be irresponsible. We have to reduce our expenses without losing efficiency. In the league, no one should accept the status quo. The league deserves more and we will work for a lot more. It is good to know that we are stronger and more confident than yesterday," said the new president of the Portuguese league.
