Germany: Warner Bros. Discovery free-to-air broadcaster of the 2023 World Handball Championship

Warner Bros. Discovery has acquired the free-to-air broadcasting rights in Germany for the 2023 IHF Men's World Handball Championship, which will take place from 11-29/01/2023 in Poland and Sweden, announced the media and entertainment conglomerate on 08/12/2022.

The rights, sublicensed from the streaming platform sportdeutschland.tv (owned by the German National Olympic Committee), allow Warner Bros. Discovery to broadcast up to 15 matches of the competition live and free-to-air on its Eurosport 1 channel. The agreement includes matches in which Germany is not represented, including the two semi-finals and the final if the German team does not qualify.

Germany's public broadcasting groups ARD and ZDF hold the rights to broadcast the German national team's matches during the competition live and free-to-air.
