Portugal: Luís Duque elected president of the Portuguese Professional Football League until 2018

The Portuguese Luís Duque was elected president of the LPFP (Portuguese Professional Football League) until 2018, during the general assembly of the Primeira Liga and Segunda Liga clubs (Portuguese first and second divisions) on 27/10/2014. The only candidate, Luís Duque received 46 votes in favour (five blank votes and two null votes).

Director of Sporting Clube de Portugal (Primeira Liga) in 2011-12, Luís Duque succeeds Mario Figueiredo, president of the LPFP since 12/01/2012. Luís Duque had receive a new four-year term at the head of the league on 11/06/2014, but the Council of Justice of the FPF (Portuguese Football Federation) invalidated that election on 29/07/2014.

  • Mario Figueiredo, the outgoing president of the LPFP, was also a member of the Board of the EPFL (Association of European Professional Football Leagues), chaired by Frédéric Thiriez.
  • Members of the LPFP Supervisory Board, the Arbitration Committee and the Disciplinary Committee have, along with the new president of the league, been elected until 2018.
