Just over 3.4 million spectators attended the 64 matches of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, for an average stadium fill rate of 96.3%, according to FIF on 18/12/2022. The total number of spectators reached 2.45 million after the 48 matches of the group stage, which ended on 02/12/2022, for a fill rate of 96%.

The final of the 2022 edition of the World Cup, which saw Argentina beat France (3-3, 4-2 victory on penalties), was attended by 88,966 spectators at the Lusail Stadium in Doha (QAT), according to the international Federation. This is the joint highest attendance of the competition, along with the Argentina - Mexico group match (2-0, 26/11/2022), also played at the Lusail Stadium. It is the highest total for a World Cup since the 1994 final in the United States (94,194 spectators at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, for Brazil's penalty shoot-out victory over Italy).

The six goals scored in the final made the 2022 World Cup the highest-scoring edition of the competition, with 172 goals, compared with 171 in the 1998 and 2014 tournaments.
