Qatar 2022: 113.1 million posts on social networks during the competition (+60% vs 2018)

113.1 million messages were published on social networks during the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar, 60% more than during the 2018 edition in Russia, according to the French firm Visibrain on 19/12/2022.

The final won by Argentina versus France (3-3, 4-2 on penalties) on 18/12/2022 generated more than 25.9 million posts, which is "three times more than the 2018 France - Croatia final (4-2)". The 2022 final alone accounted for a quarter of all posts during the competition. The opening ceremony, hosted by South Korean artist Jungkook on 20/11/2022, was the second most commented on event of the World Cup online, with "over 10 million posts."

Among the teams with the most reactions:
⚽️ Argentina had 41.3 million posts related to their journey;
⚽️ fellow finalists France, were the subjects of 20.3 million posts;
⚽️ Brazil, eliminated in the quarter-finals by Croatia, generated 9.1 million posts on social networks.
