Qatar 2022: Argentina's adidas shirt embroidered with three stars to go on sale on 26/12/2022

adidas plans to market the Argentina shirt embroidered with three stars signifying the World Cup trophies won (in 1978, 1986 and 2022) from Monday 26/12/2022, according to the Argentine national daily Il Clarìn on 19/12/2022. The shirt will also feature FIFA's gold patch that reads "World Champions 2022."

During the 2022 World Cup - won by Argentina who defeated France in the final (3-3, 4-2 on penalties) - sales of the Albiceleste shirt were 55% higher "than during the 2018 World Cup in Russia, well above our forecasts," according to the German equipment manufacturer, which did not, however, mention any sales figures. "The factory is designing shirts round the clock, but there are still some details to be defined. One of them is the price," adidas told Il Clarìn.

adidas supplies the Argentine national teams' kits as part of its partnership with the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA), which has been in place since 1987. In 2022, this contract is worth an estimated €23m. Royalties from global sales of adidas' Argentina shirts in 2022 are estimated at $2m (€1.88m).
