Viacom 18, a joint venture between US media conglomerate ViacomCBS and Indian media conglomerate Network 18, has acquired the exclusive broadcasting rights in India and the Indian subcontinent (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) to the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games, announced the International Olympic Committee on 21/12/2022.

"Through the agreement, Viacom18 will provide multi-platform coverage of the Games, and ensure free-to-air television coverage within the region," said the IOC. Viacom 18 has also acquired the non-exclusive broadcasting rights for the 2024 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Gangwon Province, South Korea, from 19/01 to 02/02/2024, in the same territories.

The broadcasting rights for the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games were held in India and the Indian subcontinent by Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN). India's public broadcasting group Doordasha also broadcast the competition free-to-air in India.
