Tour de France 2024: first start from Italy (in Florence) and first finish away from Paris (in Nice)

After Copenhagen (DAN) in 2022 and Bilbao (ESP) in 2023, the 2024 edition of the Tour de France will start in Italy (in Florence, Tuscany) for the first time ever, on 29/06/2024, announced Amaury Sport Organisation, the organiser of the race, on 21/12/2022. Three Italian stages are scheduled between Saturday 29/06 and Monday 01/07/2024 (Florence - Rimini; Cesenatico - Bologna; Piacenza - Turin).

"During the TG Sport television show broadcast by the Italian public broadcasting group Rai, Christian Prudhomme (director of the race) officially launched the countdown to the Grand Départ of the Tour de France 2024, which will take place in Italy for the first time, 100 years after the first victory of an Italian cyclist, Ottavio Bottecchia," said ASO.

Italy thus becomes the 11^th country to host the Grand Départ of the Tour, for a 26^th start outside of France (six starts from the Netherlands, five from Belgium, four from Germany and two from Spain).
