• The Japanese city of Sapporo has suspended its bid to host the 2030 Winter Olympics following a corruption scandal involving Tokyo, the host city of the 2020 Olympics.
• "For the first time in history, teams from every continent reached the knockout stage of the World Cup. Football is becoming truly global," said Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, on 19/12/2022.
• beIN Media Group has extended its exclusive broadcasting rights, in the US and Canada, to the CONMEBOL Libertadores, the CONMEBOL Sudamericana and the Recopa Sudamericana for 2023-2026.
