Spain: RFEF adopts a provisional budget of €382m for 2023, 2^nd largest ever after 2022 (-6%)

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) general assembly unanimously adopted a budget of €382m for 2023 (-6% versus 2022), its second largest ever, after the 2022 budget (€406.56m), announced the Federation on 22/12/2022. This budget represents an increase of 6.9% compared to that of 2021 (€357.4m).

Audiovisual rights (mainly for the national teams and the Copa del Rey) is the RFEF's main source of revenue (€121.9m, or 31.9% of the total), ahead of sponsorship & merchandising revenue (€75.6m, 19.8%) and refereeing revenue (€49.4m, 12.3%).

In terms of expenditure, €88.7m (23.2%) will be paid to the clubs, €51.1m (13.4%) will be dedicated to national team competitions and matches, and €49.9m to refereeing (13%).

"The RFEF's ability to propose a budget of €382m for a transitional year will allow it to continue to advance football development programmes at all levels, from grassroots to the elite, in both men's and women's categories. This growth is a clear sign of the strength of the RFEF's muscle in the generation of revenue and resources," said the body.
