Transfers: Cristiano Ronaldo (POR) joins Al Nassr FC (KSA) until 2025 for €200m per season

Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, 37, has signed with Al Nassr FC (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) until 2025, announced the club on 30/12/2022.

Ronaldo is expected to earn around €200m per season until the end of his contract in June 2025, the highest salary ever paid to a sports player. According to several media reports, a clause in the deal could see the player become an ambassador for Saudi Arabia, Greece and Egypt's potential joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner, who has nearly 800 million followers on social media, left Manchester United FC (Premier League) by mutual agreement with the club on 22/11/2022 due to a disagreement with his coach Erik ten Hag (NED) and to several media statements by the player criticising him and the English club's sporting policy in general.
