The American e-commerce group Amazon is considering the launch of an application entirely dedicated to the broadcasting of sports matches, according to information reported by the American media outlet The Information on 28/12/2022.

Sports competitions for which Amazon holds the broadcast rights are currently shown on the Prime Video platform. Amazon is reportedly considering new ways to leverage these various media rights deals, according to The Information. The launch of a dedicated app would help to "de-clutter" the Prime Video platform and thus enhance Amazon's sports offering, according to the media outlet.

"It would be excellent to have Thursday Night (NFL) lead into Friday, potentially Saturday big college football. We're very interested in big time college sports. We're also really interested in the NBA. We'd love to be in more business with the NFL, with baseball," said Marie Donoghue, vice president of global sports video at Amazon, in October 2022.
