"This preliminary investigation does not implicate either the president (Saïd Chabane) or an employee of the club," said Mohamed Sifaoui, director of communications for Angers SCO (Ligue 1 Uber Eats), at a press conference on 04/01/2023, the day after the search of the club's headquarters in the Baumette district of Angers (Maine-et-Loire, FRA).

"It concerns player transfers. A number of people we don't know are presumed guilty. We have in this galaxy two people who have passed through the club, being prosecuted but presumed innocent," said Mohamed Sifaoui, who is targeting Jalal Benalla, a player representative and employee in the recruitment unit of Angers SCO between September and December 2022, and Valentin Harribey, former legal director of the club, who was laid off in October 2022.

"We deny any responsibility, otherwise the president would also have been placed in custody. The latter has fallen from grace (...) At this time, other clubs must be heard. The investigation is very advanced," said Pierry Fumanal, lawyer for Angers SCO, who was also present at the press conference.
