"The ATP Masters 1000 and Grand Slam events attract all the best players in the world and are the most popular events with the public. The aim is to develop our premium products, namely the Masters 1000s (by extending their duration to twelve days for the Masters 1000s in Madrid (ESP), Rome (ITA) and Shanghai (CHN) from 2023 and Cincinnati (USA) and Canada from 2025). We are not really inventing anything new as the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells and Miami (USA) already operate on this model. We want to bring the Masters 1000 closer to a Grand Slam to make it more interesting for the fans," said Andrea Gaudenzi, chairman of the Association of Tennis Professionals, to the French regional daily Ouest France on 09/01/2023.
