Women's World Cup 2023: Stéphanie Frappart & two other French women among the 107 referees selected

Stéphanie Frappart as central referee, Élodie Coppola as assistant referee and Manuela Nicolosi as video assistant referee are the three French referees selected by FIFA to officiate at the Women's World Cup 2023 in New Zealand and Australia (from 20/07 to 20/08/2023), announced the world body on 09/01/2023.

"A total of 33 referees, 55 assistant referees and 19 video match officials (VMOs) will form FIFA Team One. They have been chosen in close cooperation with the six confederations, based on the officials' quality and the performances delivered at FIFA tournaments as well as at other international and domestic competitions in recent years. For the first time in the history of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, six female VMOs have also been selected," explained FIFA.

The 2022 World Cup in Qatar saw France's Stéphanie Frappart become the first female central referee in history to officiate at the finals of the men's competition, during the match between Germany and Costa Rica (Matchday 3 in Group E) on Thursday 01/12/2022.
