"The executive committee of SC Bastia (Ligue 1) informs that from this day Claude Makelele is no longer the head coach of SC Bastia," announced the club on 03/11/2014. Claude Makelele, 41 years old, has held the post since24/05/2014.

After 12 matchdays, SC Bastia, defeated away to EA Guingamp (1-0) on 01/11/2014, occupies 19th place in Ligue 1 with 10 points. The Corsican club is at one point behind RC Lens (11 pts) for 17th, and the first non-relegation, place.

  • "As of this afternoon (03/11/2014), the day-to-day actions are performed by Ghislain Printant and Herve Sekli until the appointment of the next head coach," stated SC Bastia.
  • Claude Makelele is the first manager sacked in Ligue 1 in 2014-15.
