Rugby World Cup 2023: TF1 sublicenses rights to 28 of the 48 matches to M6 and France Télévisions

TF1 has sublicensed the rights to broadcast 28 matches of the 2023 Rugby World Cup (to be held in France from 08/09 to 28/10/2023) to the free-TV group M6 and the public broadcasting group France Télévisions, announced the French free-TV group on 11/01/2023.

"TF1 will show 20 matches (including three pool matches involving France), two quarter-finals (including the one involving France should they qualify), both semi-finals, the Bronze Final, and the Final. The France Télévisions group will screen 10 matches (including France-Namibia), and the M6 group will show the other 18 games," explained TF1.

The TF1 group acquired the broadcasting rights in France from World Rugby for the Men's 2023 Rugby World Cup and the Women's 2021 Rugby World Cup (organised in New Zealand and rescheduled from 08/10 to 12/11/2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic) on 03/09/2021. The value of the agreement is reported to be €85m according to the rugbyrama website.
