Tennis: early termination of the 25-year Davis Cup partnership between the ITF & Kosmos in 2023

"The International Tennis Federation (ITF) can confirm that its partnership with Kosmos Tennis for Davis Cup is ending in its fifth year (in 2023)," announced the world tennis body on 12/01/2023. 

Kosmos, an investment fund founded by former Spanish footballer Gerard Piqué, had entered into a 25-year partnership with the ITF, valued at $3bn (€2.4bn), for the organisation of the Davis Cup from 2019, on 26/02/2018. The ITF general assembly had adopted the Davis Cup reform by 325 votes (71.43%) against 130, in Orlando (Florida, USA), on 16/08/2018. 

The Spanish group has repeatedly changed the format of the men's national team tennis competition created in 1900, notably abandoning the home-and-away format, not without attracting plenty of criticism. Four editions later, the two parties have broken their contract because they could not reach a new financial agreement, according to Spanish media.
